Southern California Autocross

Autocross at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Southern California

Triple your seat time. Zero cone duty.

Bring your daily driver. No experience needed.

Corner Exit runs autocross events across Southern California, mainly at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. If you've ever wondered what your car can actually do, this is the safest and most affordable way to find out: a closed course, no traffic, just you against the clock.

What is autocross?

Autocross is a timed driving event on a course marked by cones in a large parking lot. One car runs at a time, so you're racing the clock, not other drivers. Speeds stay lower than on a racetrack, but the turns come fast, and it's one of the best ways to learn car control.

Can I really do this in my car?

Yes. Most drivers show up in the car they drove that morning: Miatas, Mustangs, Civics, Teslas, trucks, classic Camaros. You don't need any modifications. Your car needs to pass a basic safety inspection, and you'll fill out a short tech form at check-in.

What a day looks like

  • 7:30 AM: Check-in
  • 8:00 AM: Mandatory drivers' meeting
  • 8:30 AM: Practice runs. You get 4 to learn the course before anything counts.
  • About 11:30 AM: 4 timed runs
  • About 1:30 PM: Awards
  • 2:00 PM: Fun runs, usually around 4 more

Regulars are happy to walk the course with first-timers and help you learn it.

No course-working, just drive

At most autocross events, every driver spends part of the day working the course: chasing knocked-over cones, often in the sun. At Corner Exit, we hire course workers. Your whole day is about driving.

Helmets

A Snell SA2015 or M2015 (or newer) helmet is required. Don't have one? We have free loaner helmets. Drivers get priority, then first come, first served.

Who can drive?

You need a valid driver's license. Drivers 16 and 17 can participate with a parent or guardian present and a signed minor waiver.

Ride-alongs and spectators

Spectators are always free. Ride-alongs are allowed during practice and fun runs. During timed runs, only approved instructors may ride along.

Entry: $205

Here's what that gets you:

  • 4 practice runs to learn the course before anything counts
  • 4 timed runs
  • Fun runs after awards, usually around 4 more
  • No course-working. Hired workers handle the cones.
  • Free loaner helmets if you need one

That's 10+ runs, usually around 12, compared with the 3–4 you'll get at most autocross events. And you won't spend half your day on cone duty.

Events run rain or shine. Cancel more than 7 days out and you'll get a credit.

Our series

  • APEX Series (Angel Stadium): Smaller fields, about 25% fewer cars, with full classes running together so you see where you stand in real time. Your fastest timed run counts.
  • Autocross Challenge: All 4 timed runs are added together, so consistency beats one lucky lap. Looser classes; bring your fun car.
  • Touge Series (Apple Valley Speedway): Autocross meets small-track racing, with head-to-head chase battles and a full-track time attack.
